Southeast Asia eSIM: Laos and Singapore Coverage

A Southeast Asia eSIM can cover Thailand and Vietnam yet leave a gap in Laos or Singapore. For travellers leaving France or Germany on a longer holiday, the useful starting point is the complete route, including optional stays, rather than the biggest country count on a product card.

Start with places where you actually need mobile data

Write down Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam as four separate destinations. Add Singapore only if you plan to stay there and need mobile data. A flight connection and a city stay create different needs; neither should quietly disappear into a broad label such as “Asia”. If your return route revisits Thailand, mark that return too, because the same plan must still have time and data remaining.

Apple’s travel guidance distinguishes plans by data amount, duration and covered countries. Treat those as three separate decisions. A matching country list cannot compensate for a plan that expires before your last stop, and a generous allowance cannot add a country that is absent.

Southeast Asia eSIM: compare the actual country lists

These Polaris eSIM examples were checked on 16 October 2026. Each selected option offers a total 10 GB for 30 days and uses Roaming. The table describes those specific choices, not every regional product or a guarantee of reception everywhere within the covered countries. Open the linked product and recheck the selected option before paying.

For a Southeast Asia eSIM, a larger number is not necessarily a wider version of the smaller bundle. The seven-country Asia choice includes Singapore but leaves out Laos. The eight-country Southeast Asia choice includes Laos but leaves out Singapore. The fourteen-country Asia choice also leaves out Singapore, despite its longer list. For the Thailand–Laos–Cambodia–Vietnam route, the latter two lists contain all four stops; the first needs a separate solution for Laos.

Keep network routing separate from geographic eligibility. The eight- and fourteen-country examples list a Singapore internet exit, but that does not make Singapore a supported destination. Where traffic exits and where the eSIM may connect are different facts. Nor does the Roaming label identify every local partner network or promise a particular speed at your accommodation.

One shared allowance for your Southeast Asia eSIM

Think of 10 GB as one travel budget. As a purely illustrative calculation, using 3 GB in Thailand and another 2 GB in Laos would leave 5 GB for the remaining covered stops. Cambodia does not start a fresh 10 GB, and entering Vietnam does not restore what you already used. These quantities explain the arithmetic; they are not a prediction of your personal needs.

A Southeast Asia eSIM does not restart its validity at a border either. The selected examples start validity on use. Read the delivery instructions for the precise activation conditions and check the recorded expiry after starting. Do not assume that installation, a flight departure or midnight automatically means the same thing for every product. Turning a line off between stops does not create a new validity window.

Test the calendar against the validity window

Suppose you allocate six days to Thailand, five to Laos, four to Cambodia and seven to Vietnam: twenty-two days in all. Adding a three-day Singapore stay makes twenty-five. This is a planning assumption, not a transport itinerary or confirmation of entry rights. Check flights, border arrangements and entry requirements separately, and include actual travel dates when counting how long connectivity is needed.

A 30-day option is worth examining against that twenty-five-day example, but do not replace its exact expiry with a rough number of nights. If a changed flight stretches the journey to thirty-five days, the original thirty-day period cannot cover the whole holiday merely because unused data remains. Decide in advance how to provide connectivity after expiry instead of discovering the gap on the final transfer.

Give an optional Singapore stay its own decision

With the Laos-inclusive choices above, a Singapore city stay needs separate coverage. You can compare a dedicated option on the Singapore plans page; a selected 5 GB / 30-day total option is one example, not a mandatory addition. Confirm its own allowance, start conditions and expiry. Do not assume it extends the regional plan or merges with its remaining balance.

If you instead select the seven-country choice for a route including Singapore, resolve Laos before departure through the Laos plans page. The right combination follows your actual stops. Buying the largest regional number without checking membership can still leave the same missing country.

Choose a Southeast Asia eSIM against the complete route

Before paying, put the product country list next to your dated route and identify any uncovered stay. Then compare the total allowance, activation terms and final expiry. Hotspot sharing is listed as supported for these examples, but an unspecified sharing limit is not permission to assume unlimited tethering. Plan laptop updates and large uploads with that uncertainty in mind.

Before a country change, save your next address, booking reference and a way to contact your accommodation without mobile data. A country appearing on the list does not guarantee a signal at every rural stop. If service fails, check the destination eligibility, remaining data and expiry before changing settings; follow the purchased option’s instructions and do not delete the eSIM as a routine fix. A saved product record and a clear list of the remaining stops make it easier to explain the problem and choose the next step.
